Behavioral Consultation is for parents, teachers, and child study teams at schools who struggle with a particular child or certain behaviors. There are always reasons for problematic behaviors, and there are always ways to resolve them. The format of the consultation can differ greatly depending on the severity of symptoms and the child's functioning level. The process may take only a few sessions or combinations of interviews, observations, and intervention implementation.
Parent or teacher will participate in the intake process to discuss the problems, general goals, and appropriateness of the service.
People who are closely involved in the child's life will be interviewed. By gathering information from different people, more integrative idea of the child's personality and temperament can be formulated.
The observation will provide an opportunity to sense, perceive, and analyze the child's emotions and behaviors directly.
With the information and data gathered, a complete analysis of the child's behaviors and methods of intervention will be provided.
Step-by-step intervention plans will be provided for you to use. This can occur in-vivo (live) or through video recordings. After the implementation, tell me how it went, what worked/did not work.
We will improve plans and re-approach.
We will review the changes in the child's behaviors and discuss plans to continue the improvement.
